Lauren Callaghan jumped to long jump silver at the National Senior Indoor Championships on Sunday.

The Finn Valley AC woman became Donegal's fourth medallist of the weekend when leaping out to 6.02m.

Callaghan followed her Finn Valley AC team-mate Sommer Lecky and Tir Chonaill AC man Conall Mahon who took silver in the high jump and triple jump on Saturday. Bridget McDyer of Finn Valley AC bagged bronze in the weight for distance on Saturday.

Callaghan's silver is an improvement on the bronze won 12 months ago at the National Indoor Arena, but the Killygordon woman will surely be left with a sense of one that got away,

Sophie Meredith from St Mary's in Limerick won gold when going out to 6.05m on her third go. Meredith also record a 6.04m jump while Callaghan's only only recorded distance was a 5.98m leap.

Callaghan went out to 6.02m on her second visit to the board. The DCU student won the Irish Universities gold recently.

Mark English was absent from the start list this weekend, the Finn Valley AC man electing to skip these and the upcoming World Indoors to put his focus on an attempt to qualify for the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris.

The 800m final did have Donegal interest with Cranford AC's Oisin Kelly – fresh from winning the 800m at the Irish Universities Championships - coming home in fourth, finishing in 1:54.04. Cian McPhillips of UCD AC won gold in 1:52.79.

In the women's 1500m final, Eimear McCarroll ran an impressive race that belied her 18 years. A new personal best of 4:30.53 earned fifth spot as the Finn Valley AC woman close the margins over the last 500m.

McCarroll stepped into the senior arena this weekend and a 4:38.72 heat on Saturday secured a final place.

Later this year, the Omagh teenager will go to Bradley University in Illinois to take up a scholarship.

McCarroll was steady over the first 1,000m and put the foot down for a very encouraging fifth-place finish.

Last month, McCarroll set a new best of 4:32.71, which represented a new championship best in winning the National Indoor U20 1500m.

Janine Boyle of Finn Valley reached the semi-finals of the 60m sprint. Boyle got through her heat in 7.78 seconds and was fifth in her semi, clocking 7.74 seconds.

Tir Chonaill AC's Geraldine Stewart was fifth in the shot put, going out to a best of 11.66m with Michaela Walsh from Swinford winning gold, throwing to 15.03m.

In the men's long jump, Finn Valley AC's Oisin Thompson notched a new personal best distance, going out to 6.56m for eighth overall, the event won by Reece Ademola from Leevale (7.82m).

Also in the women's long jump were Rosses AC pair Fodhla Nic Phaidin and Leah McGarvey, 10th and 14th respectively after jumps of 5.01m and 4.45m.

Sinead McConnell of Finn Valley AC is preparing for the European Masters in Torun and got around the 3,000m walk in 16:48.81 for 15th overall, but Brendan Boyce did not go under starter's orders in the men's 5,000m walk.
