Helen McCready (centre) won the women’s category at the Walled City Ten Miler in Derry
Rosses AC star Helen McCready recorded a fantastic victory in Derry’s Walled City 10 miler being the first woman home.
Just over a month after coaching Finn Valley athlete Amy Greene to the Dublin Inter-varsity Cross Country title as a representative of Dublin City University, McCready showed she can hold her own in tight competition as she sprinted across the Derry City this afternoon.
It was just as fitting that her clubmate Shane O’Donnell was third overall in the men’s event, while the St Columba’s team were fifth overall.
This comes after a fine weekend of athletics for Donegal where St. Columba’s College Stranorlar student Odhran McBrearty won the intermediate U-17 title at the schools' cross-country championships in Dublin.
