Cara Laverty aids Providence College to relay win at Big East

Cara Laverty helped Providence College to gold at the Big East Championships on Saturday night.

The Finn Valley AC woman ran the third leg of the 4x800m relay as Providence took victory.

Laverty is a scholarship student at the Rhode Island college.

Laverty was joined by Halle Atkinson, Shannon Flockhart and Kimberley May.

Providence finished in 8:33.43, staving off Georgetown (8:39.76) and DePaul (8:48.21) at the Jumbo Elliott Track at Villanova University.

Earlier this year, Laverty lowered the Finn Valley AC 800m record to 2:07.87.
