Letterkenny AC set a new Donegal mixed 4x400m record in Belfast on Saturday.

Competing at the British Milers Club & Lagan Valley AC meeting at the Mary Peters Track, the LAC quartet broke new ground.

Joseph Aidoo, Fern Duffy, Eoin Kelly and Erin Friel clocked 3:39.65 to finish in second spot.

The time was beaten only by the hosts, Lagan Valley, who won in 3:7.52.

Friel, who is in line for the European Under-18 Championships next month in Slovakia, ran the anchor leg and took the black and amber to an excellent new county best for the mixed 4x400m relay.

The previous record of 3:46.41 was clocked by LAC last year. The only difference here was that Friel took the spot previously held by coach Kathryn McDevitt.

Friel clocked a new PB in her own 400m, lowering her mark to 56.76 seconds to win from Lagan Valley's Laura Frey, who crossed the line in 57.35 seconds.

Katie Elliott was third in a 100m, going 13.55 seconds, and was seventh in the final, running 13.19 seconds.

Duffy was seventh in the 400m race won by Friel, clocking 62.78 seconds, while Kelly was fourth and Aidoo sixth in a 400m, recording 50.00 seconds and 51.29 seconds respectively.

Sheldon Romeo Nyoni finished second in a 400m in 50.63m and also competed in the long jump, recording a best of 5.86m.

Lifford-Strabane AC's Caoimhe Gallen won the U18 hammer event, throwing out to 56.93m. Her elder sister Adrienne Gallen won the senior hammer with a best throw of 56.11m.

Finn Valley AC's Arlene Crossan won a 400m in 54.77 seconds, staving off Rachel McCann from North Down, who finished in 54.86 seconds.

The meeting had seven one-mile races, staged to mark the 70th anniversary of Roger Bannister historic first sub four-minute mile.

Sean McGinley was second in one of the miles, finishing in 4:08.06, behind Sale Harries' Christopher Fielding, who clocked 4:06.90.

McGinley's Finn Valley AC club mate Oisin Toye was 10th in another mile, his time 4:15.06.

Tristan Kelly of Finn Valley lowered his 3000m best by ten seconds to win in 8:56.76, while Cara Laverty, also of Finn Valley, was third over 1500m in 4:23.16.

Finn Valley AC's Amy Greene was sixth over 3000m (9:45.57), Eimear McCarroll seventh in an 800m (2:12.16) and Dermot Brennan second in another 800m (1:59.03).
