Donegal driver Joshua Henry
Joshua Henry has been announced as one of the nominees for the 2024 Sexton Trophy Young Racing Driver of the Year award.
A pair of race wins at Anglesea, along with a new lap record for that track put Henry on the radar for the judges to consider and ultimately award him the monthly nomination for September.
Inver teenager Henry drove brilliantly to win in the Patch Tyre Equipment Junior MINI Challenge.
The victory at Trac Môn Anglesey Circuit was his second victory in the Championship this year.
Henry's fastest lap of 1:25.253 established the class lap record at the Welsh circuit.
In July at Mondello Park, Henry edged out Bobby Joe McFall and Hoey.
His performances in 2023 caught the eye of Donagh Kelly and the former Irish Tarmac Rally Championship winner snapped up the exciting prospect.
This year, nominations come in the form of a monthly selection, as adjudicated by the members of the Motorsport Ireland Race Commission, with selections coming from the pool of MI-licenced drivers for their performances at home and abroad.
The longlist of nominees will then undertake a formal interview process in November with a panel of judges representing Motorsport Ireland, Sport Ireland, the Motorsport Ireland Race Commission and members of the media.
The Sexton Trophy winner, who will be announced in December at the Motorsport Ireland Champions Award Lunch, will receive a €50,000 support package to help develop their motor racing career.
