Donegal County Council has formally celebrated distinguished athletics coach Teresa McDaid in a Civic Reception held in her honour.

McDaid, who has served as team manager for Ireland's Olympic squads at the Tokyo Games in 2021 and the Paris Games earlier this year, has been instrumental in the impressive medal successes achieved by Irish athletes across various disciplines.

Her significant contributions to athletics, both at a national level and in her hometown of Letterkenny over many years, were acknowledged during the ceremony, which took place at the Public Services Centre in Letterkenny on Friday.

Letterkenny Mayor, and Councillor Gerry McMonagle, praised McDaid for her achievements, highlighting her role as an inspiring figure for young people in the local community.
