Caitriona Jennings won the National 50km Championship on Saturday, setting a new national record in the process. 

The Letterkenny AC woman took victory at Donadea Forest Park in Kildare.

Jennings clocked 3:16:33 for the win at the 15th staging of the championships.

Tara Malone of Enniskillen was second in 3:49:42 with Patricia McLoughlin, in the colours of Le Cheile AC, third when crossing the finish line in 3:54:26.

Back in 2019, Jennings broke the Irish record when running 3:19:50 in Brasov, Romania.

Jennings competed in the women’s marathon at the 2012 Olympic Games in London.
