Kathryn McDevitt after setting a new record at the Scottish Masters.
Kathryn McDevitt smashed a 27-year-old record on a day when she won double gold at the Scottish Masters Championships.
The Letterkenny AC woman broke the long-standing W35 200m record.
McDevitt won the women’s 200m in 26.78 seconds at the Emirates Arena in Glasgow.
The Donegal athlete was the comfortable victor ahead of North Shields’ Nadia Leake (29.56) and Lourdes Bradley (29.84), also of North Shield.
The previous record of 27.27 seconds was held by Irene Morrison since 1995.
It was a day to remember for McDevitt, who dedicated her new record to the memory of her good friend Nuala Crampsie, who died in December 2019.
In the call room, McDevitt vowed: ‘I’ll do this for Nuala’. McDevitt did just that to set a superb new mark.
Earlier in the day, McDevitt won gold in the 60m sprint.
The day sets her up nicely for the European Masters Championships in Braga with McDevitt set to compete in the 60m, 200m and relay.
