Jordan Furey
Jordan Furey helped Ireland into the semi-finals of the MMA Super Cup in Bahrain with a vicious first round stoppage on Wednesday morning.
Furey recorded a superb win over Mitchell Kelly of Oceania Champions in a welterweight bout.
Furey was in dominant form, raining down a series of strikes from the back to which Kelly had no answer.
Furey landed ferocious ground and pound and the Letterkenny man was soon toasting victory via a technical knockout.
Initially, Ireland were due to face Russia, but the IMMAF suspended the Russian federation earlier this week and they were replaced by Oceania Champions.
Furey’s win came after victories for Eabaa Cruise, Kerry Ann Vernon and Jordan Bradshaw and put Ireland 4-2 in front.
However, Jonas Grace and Auryn Parmley won to bring Oceania Champions level.
A first round submission for Gustavo Lopez against Larry Adnan secured a win for Ireland, who face Mexico in Thursday’s semi-final.
