Carndonagh Boxing Club duo Darragh Porter and Kieran Cunningham are first up as they get their National Boy 4 Championship bids underway

Donegal boxers glove off in national championships

Donegal boxers Darragh Porter and Kieran Cunningham get their National Boy 4 Championship bids underway this weekend.

The Carndonagh duo take to the ring at The National Stadium.

At 52kgs, Porter faces Louis Griffin from Kilfenora in a quarter-final.

Cunningham has been drawn in a semi-final at 66kgs and will face Mayo’s Edward Sweeney.

In total over the next four weekends, Donegal has ten boxers competing in National Championships.

Boxing this Friday is underway at 7pm.

On Saturday night, Illies Golden Gloves host a tournament at the Halfway House, Burnfoot.

Matchmakers have 14 contests slated and the first bell goes at 8pm.

On Wednesday, March 16, at the Ozanam Centre, Dunfanaghy Boxing Club host a number tournament.

Again, action is underway at 8pm.
