Gary McElhinney and Seb Pérez toast their victory
Laghy man Gary McElhinney was co-driver for winner Seb Pérez at the Rally Mallorca this weekend,
McElhinney is the regular navigator for Pérez and they won the Rally Clásico Isla de Mallorca-Puerto Portals in fine fashion.
Pérez and McElhinney competed in a 1975 Porsche 911 Carrera.
They had one minute and 17.9 seconds to spare on the German pair of Dinkel Patrik and Lutz Tamara in a Lancer Evo III.
Pérez and McElhinney dominated from the first stage and were commanding winners.
At the end of 2021, McElhinney and Pérez were second in the Visit Conwy Cambrian Rally in Wales and they also competed at the 2021 Rally de España, a WRC event.
In 2020, Pérez and McElhinney also won Rally Mallorca and they competed in the Porsche Carrera Cup before the Covid-19 pandemic slowed the competition down.
