The Donegal ladies darts team who won the Shield
The Donegal ladies darts team won the Shield title at the 2022 West Coast Challenge in Galway at the weekend.
In a gripping final, the ladies overcame Mayo 4-3 at the Shearwater Hotel. Ballinasloe.
Carrigart’s Amanda McCarron, Trish Kelly, also from Carrigart and Catherine Porter from Crossroads all won with the game level at 3-3.
In the decisive final leg, Geraldine Harkin from Brockagh recorded a victory to take the title for Donegal.

The ladies team was under the management of Carrigart man James McCarron.
The squad also included Betsy Gordon (Convoy), Marie Shiels (Lifford) Maggie Bonner (Brockagh) and the Frosses contingent of Sharon Cunningham, Amy Cunningham, Marybeth Cunningham and Kelly Cunningham.
The Donegal ladies defeated Clare 4-2 in their semi-final.
There was joy, too for the Donegal youths, who also lifted the Shield title, while the Donegal men’s A team lost out in the Championship final.
