Cranford AC’s middle distance men topped the charts at the Irish Life Health National Juvenile Track and Field Championships at Tullamore on Sunday.

Oisin Kelly and Caolan McFadden made it a day to remember for the Cranford club as they each left with gold medals.

Kelly won the Under-19 800m in 1:55.03, taking the win from Finn Boyle, who crossed the line in 1:55.77.

Another rising Cranford ace, Caolan McFadden, was the winner of the Under-16 800m. McFadden clocked 2:01.50 with his nearest challenger, Daire O’Donnell, finishing in 2:02.21.

Cranford AC’s Amy Cullen was the under-16 long jump silver medalist, touching the sand at 5.20m.

Cranford AC’s excellent afternoon was completed with Aoife Giles taking the bronze in the Under-19 shot put.

Giles reached out to a best of 9.64m with Lifford-Strabane AC’s Adrienne Gallen also on the podium, claiming silver with a 9.82m throw. The event was won by Tralee’s Kirbyanne Ryan, who threw a best of 10.19m.

Caoimhe Gallen of Lifford-Strabane AC won the Under-16 shot, a best effort of 12.22m earning the gold. Ava Anderson from Tir Chonaill AC was fourth with Rosses AC’s Shiela Gallagher fifth and Lifford-Srabane AC’s Emer McFadden eighth.

There was a one-two for Tir Chonaill AC in the Under-18 discus. Kacper Adamski’s 39.47m attempt landed the gold with club-mate Alex Anderson leaving with silver thanks to a 38.84m throw.

Tir Chonaill AC’s Alannah Anderson won the Under-15 discus, throwing a 27.80m best, while Lucy McGlynn’s superb form continued as she won the Under-19 100m hurdles, finishing in 14.38 seconds, beating St Laurence O’Toole’s Arabella Adekoya (14.97) into second.

Finn Valley AC’s Amy Timoney sped to the Under-16 80m hurdles crown. Timoney soared home in 11.85 seconds, winning from South Galway pair Amy Rose Kelly and Orlaith Mannion.

Ashleigh McArdle of Lifford-Strabane AC won a silver in the Under-17 javelin with a 32.62m throw.

There were also 800m silvers for Letterkenny AC pair Daragh Naughton and Emma Bonar. In the Under-14 race, Naughton finished in 2:11.40 while Bonar posted 2:16.32 in her Under-15 race.

Tir Chonaill AC’s Ethan Dewhirst won bronze in the Under-16 100m hurdles, finishing in 15.68 seconds, while Eva Logue of Rosses AC earned the Under-14 high jump bronze when clearing 1.45m.

Michaela Galvin of Tir Chonaill AC was just 0.04m from a medal in the Under-19 triple jump, edged out by Caoimhe McDonagh of South Sligo, while Tir Chonaill AC’s Luke Ward was fourth in the Under-17 hammer.

In the Under-15 high jump, Alannah Anderson of Tir Chonaill AC was fourth while Ella Costello of Lifford-Strabane AC was fifth in the Under-17 100m hurdles and Finn Valley AC’s Sarah Bradley was sixth in the Under-19 800m.
