Bronze for Fintan Dewhirst at Schools International Pentathlon

Fintan Dewhirst finished third at the Schools International Pentathlon on Saturday.

The Tir Chonaill AC man took the individual bronze and team bronze with Ireland's Over-16 boys.

Dewhirst earned 3,473 points with England's Hayden Christian winning gold when scoring 3,737 points and Ben Heron from Scotland took silver thanks to a 3,631 points tally.

St Columba's Comprehensive, Glenties student Dewhirst was the 400m hurdles silver medal winner at this year's European Under-18 Championships in Jerusalem.

At The Emirates Arena in Glasgow, Dewhirst won the 200m in 22.23 seconds and was second over the 60m hurdles in 8.11 seconds.

Dewhirst threw the shot put out to 11.47 metres and timed 2:16.76 for the 800m.

There were team gold medals for Tir Chonaill AC's Emily Kelly and the Ireland Under-16 girls.

Kelly, a student at St Columba's College in Stranorlar, was second in the 800m, clocking 2:26.66.

Kelly bagged a total of 2,486 points with Ireland ending on 9,689, including the 3,508 bagged by the winner, Tara O'Connor from Dundalk.
