Ciaran McGonagle wins Lanzarote Marathon

Letterkenny AC athlete Ciaran McGonagle was over a minute ahead of his nearest challenger at the Lanzarote Marathon on Saturday.

Letterkenny AC's Ciaran McGonagle won the Lanzarote International Marathon on Saturday.

The Burtonport man finished in a superb two hours, 33 minutes and 27 seconds.

McGonagle was over a minute ahead of nearest challenger Iacopo Brash, who clocked 2:34:24. Diogo Baena was third in 2:34:24.

McGonagle competed in the Dublin marathon in October and has been a key cog in LAC's men's cross country team in recent weeks.

Meanwhile, at the Seeley Cup in Belfast, LAC's Nakita Burke finished second with her clubmate Noeleen Scanlan in third.
