Two new special classrooms have been approved for schools located in Donegal.
The new classrooms will be located at PCC Falcarragh and Scoil Naomh Chaitríona, Ballyshannon.
The Minister for Education and Youth of Ireland, Hilldegarde Naughton TD, confirmed the sanctioning of 38 new special classes for the 2026/27 school year, bringing the national total to 301. These classrooms are designed for students who require additional support and lower student-teacher ratios.

“These new classes will provide vital places for families who have been seeking appropriate educational supports within their own communities,” Fianna Fáil TD Pat ‘The Cope’ Gallagher said. “Five of the newly sanctioned classes nationwide will be delivered through modular accommodation, showing the Department’s commitment to ensuring that suitable facilities are provided without delay.”
