Players from Letterbarrow Celtic and Kerrykeel71 leave the field after their Temple Doomestic Appliance Division One game was abandoned by match referee George Clinton early in the second half
The Letterbarrow Celtic v Kerrykeel 71 Division 1 league game which was abandoned after 53 minutes on Sunday last, will now be a matter for the disciplinary committee of the Donegal League.
The game, which was transferred from Letterbarrow’s home ground at Tymeen to Eany Park on Sunday, was abandoned by referee, George Clinton, nine minutes into the second half. Letterbarrow Celtic were leading 3-0 at the time.
A Kerrykeel player James Friel, had been sent off before half-time and just prior to the abandonment a second Kerrykeel player, Mark Friel, was dismissed. Friel was not happy with the decision and had to be ushered away by his teammates.
Shortly after this, the referee called time on the game, claiming that he was doing so for his own safety.
When contacted this week, a Donegal League official said they would await the referee’s report and the matter would then be sent to the disciplinary committee, where it will be dealt with on its merits.
