Finn Harps remembered the late Ronan Roddy as they got their 2023 underway against Galway United on Friday night.

The Ballybofey club acknowledged the contribution of much loved steward Ronan - from  Trenamullin, Stranorlar - who passed away last month. Steward Tommy Dullaghan manned the gates at players tunnel with Ronan for the best part of two decades.

Former Harps manager Ollie Horgan, who is now assistant manager of Galway United, gave a warm shake of hands and embrace to Tommy as he entered the field.

Tommy and Ronan, who worked at Mac's Mace in Letterkenny, standing at the tunnel entrance in their orange steward jackets had become recognised by supporters as a permanent fixture on match nights at Finn Park.

To remember Ronan the Harps first team donned an orange symbol #ForRonan on the back of shirts for the 2023 season.

A minute’s applause was conducted before kick-off and Ronan’s family were in attendance as Galway won 2-1. Harps have a chance to pick up their first points of the SSE Airtricity League First Division with a fixture away to Athlone Town on Friday night.
