Lee McColgan played the full game but the Republic of Ireland Amateur International team lost out in their UEFA Regions Cup opener.

The Cockhill Celtic man played at left-back as Ireland lost 2-0 to the hosts, Galicia, at Campo Municipal de Burgáns.

Inaki Martinez opened the scoring in the 10th minute and Ireland were rocked when Glen Daly was sent off soon after.

The Boys in Green had already suffered a blow with experienced goalkeeper Brendan O'Connell forced out of the game after suffering an injury in the warm-up.

In added time at the end, Magisano added a breakaway second for Galicia.

Bonagee United's Jack Parke was an unused substitute on the Ireland squad.

Ireland will face Germany on Sunday and Bosnia and Herzegovina on Wednesday.
