Sean O'Donnell with Finn Harps manager Dave Rogers.
Sean O’Donnell’s exciting rise has been rewarded with a new contract at Finn Harps.
The Carndonagh teenager has been tied down to a deal that will keep him at Finn Park until the end of the 2025 season.
The 19-year-old has penned a two-and-a-half-year contract, six days after scoring the winner in a 4-3 classic against Cobh Ramblers last week.
O’Donnell has made 18 appearances this season and also scored in a 3-2 win over Longford Town in June.
Last week, he bagged the winner as Harps twice came from behind to win and has been a ray of light for Dave Rogers’ men in the First Division.
“We are delighted with his progress,” Rogers said.
“As one of our own, Sean epitomises what we require from our players in terms of maximum effort and a desire to improve on a daily basis.
“Sean has taken his chance fantastically since coming through our Academy pathway and, although he has had to be patient, it shows the importance and maturity he now displays as a regular contributor to our first team.”
Rogers was quick to note that O’Donnell is ‘only one step up the ladder’, but says further progress is possible.
He said: “I’m sure our fans will be delighted that we have secured another homegrown talent for the long term and support Sean on his journey with Finn Harps.”
