Tyler Toland scored her first Blackburn Rovers goal on Sunday, but they fell to defeat against Durham.

Toland’s fellow Republic of Ireland international Saoirse Noonan scored twice as Durham won 2-1 at Maiden Castle.

Noonan bagged a brace in the first 28 minutes to give Durham an early buffer. Noonan headed home in the 22nd minute before curling in a superb long-range effort.

Toland pulled a goal back in the 38th minute. The St Johnston woman skipped onto a pass from Lauren Thomas and lofted to the net.

Toland signed for Blackburn in the summer having spent last season with Levante.

The 22-year-old previously had spells with Manchester City, Glasgow City and Celtic and has recently returned to the Republic of Ireland squad. Toland was player of the match in the Nations League win over Northern Ireland last month and is in the squad for this week’s double header against Albania.
