Coola Post Primary School, Sligo had a little too much for Pobalscoil Ghaoth Dobhair in the FAI Schools Junior ‘B’ Girls National Cup semi-final at Gortakeegan, Monaghan.
Eamonn Bruen’s charges had plenty of firepower upfront with a sensational brace from Captain Orlaith Scanlon either side of the interval as well as goals from the hardworking duo of Aoibhin Doherty and Hayley Mullaney to see them advance.
Despite the scoreline, Pobalscoil Ghaoth Dobhair'S Roisin Ni Chasaide had a great game between the posts with a double save at the death and a beauty to deny Scanlon before the hour mark.
The Connacht starlets opened their account through Orlaith Scanlon in the twelfth minute and their tally was doubled four minutes from the half hour through a brilliant strike from Aoibhin Doherty. Coola took that two goal cushion into the break.
The Ulster Champions started the second half brightly but Hannah Hargadon managed to keep a clean sheet despite the best efforts of Maryanne Nic A Bhaird and Maria Ni Gallachoir
Hayley Mullaney converted a third goal for Coola three minutes from time and a fourth came close to the final whistle with Scanlon popping up with her second of the afternoon.
