Rathmullan Celtic enjoyed a 3-0 success at Traigh-a-Loch this last night against the newly crowned Premier Division champions Fanad United.

Oisin McMenamin had Rathmullan a goal up at half-time, while Mark McAteer doubled the advantage from the spot early in the second half.

Charlie McAteer made it three midways through the second period as the Hoops saw the game out for the victory.

An excellent effort from Rathmullan, who were already guaranteed safety in the Premier Division for another year, albeit against a home side probably still carrying the effects of Sunday's title winning celebrations.

This was only Fanad’s second league defeat at home this season, with it being their third defeat overall in the Premier Division. The two in-a-row champions will finish their season with one more game this Sunday when they travel to Kildrum Tigers.

There was a show of respect from the away side who places a guard of honour for the newly crowned league winners as they made their way onto the field yesterday before the match.

At half-time Seán Canning and Kevin Cairns made a presentation to Rathmullan Celtic of a jersey in the famous red & black in memory of Patsy Sheridan - a much missed Rathmullan great.

The jersey was accepted by Patsy's sons Eamonn, Paul, and Patrick and his grandson, Paul.
