Darren Ferry found the net twice as Gweedore United handed Letterkenny Rovers their first loss of the season last night in a 2-1 win for the Gaeltacht side.

Having secured the league title just days prior, Rovers initially took the lead with Lee McMonagle's goal on the 11th minute.

Despite Rovers' early advantage, they missed an opportunity to extend their lead when Rory Gallagher's attempt was denied by an impressive save from Oran Craig.

Gweedore managed to equalise the score in the 55th minute courtesy of Ciaran McFadden's assist, which set up Ferry for the goal.

The experienced midfielder later secured the victory for Gweedore in the 79th minute, capitalising on a strong play orchestrated by Ronan O'Donnell.

Gweedore play their final game away to Glenea United this weekend with the home side placed in a three-way battle with Lagan Harps and Cranford to avoid a relegation play-off to the third tier of Donegal football.
