Republic of Ireland captain and Killybegs man Seamus Coleman will miss Tuesday's Nations League match against Greece due to injury and has been replaced in the squad by Festy Ebosele.

The 35-year-old Coleman was forced off in the second half of Saturday's Nations League defeat at home to England after picking up a knock.

The FAI confirmed that Coleman will return to his club, Everton, for treatment.

Playing on the right side of a three-man Irish defence, Coleman appeared to injure his left ankle when England's Harry Maguire landed on him following an aerial challenge.

Ebosele, who is called into the squad now, is currently on a season-long loan at Watford from Udinese, and has earned three caps for Ireland.

In Heimir Hallgrimsson’s debut as manager, Ireland struggled in a 2-0 loss to England on Saturday. They will aim to recover against a Greece side that previously beat them both home and away during the Euro 2024 qualifiers.
