Ronan Curtis in action for Port Vale
Ronan Curtis was in fine form as Port Vale began 2026 in good form with a 5-1 win over Blackpool in League One.
The St Johnston man starred with two assists and a goal on New Year's Day against an in-form Blackpool side that were unbeaten in five league games, with four wins.
The visitors went ahead in the match but a red card for James Husband before half-time gave Port Vale, under interim manager Jamie Smith, a boost heading into the second half.
And Curtis, who was introduced as a half-time substitute, set up Jayden Stockley for the equaliser, before George Byers and Jaheim Headley put the Valiants ahead.
Curtis got another assist as he provided the fourth for Devante Cole, before getting on the scoresheet himself in added time.

Port Vale, who were promoted from League Two in second place last year, currently sit bottom of the league on 18 points, but have had a good start to the new Year under Smith, who came in after Darren Moore was sacked after a poor run of twelve games without a win.
The Vale Park men are nine points adrift from safety at the moment in the third tier as they take on Barnsley on Sunday.
