Keadue Rovers have lodged a protest in relation to Sunday’s Brian McCormick Sports Cup Gweedore Area Shield final.
Keadue lost 2-1 to Kilmacrennan Celtic at the Letterkenny Community Centre.
Goals by Gary Whoriskey and James Doherty set Kilmac’ on the way with fist-half goals before Aidan McHugh pulled a goal back for Keadue 15 minutes from the end.
While Kilmac’ held on for the win, Keadue are set to appeal the result with the Donegal Junior League.
The Central Park club will contest that Kilmacrennan Celtic fielded an ineligible player in the game.
Keadue’s protest centres on their belief that a player who lined out for Kilmacrennan on Sunday played, and scored, for another club in the group stage of the competition.
The matter brings fresh appeals controversy for Kilmacrennan Celtic.
In August, Cappry Rovers were named as the winners of the 2019/20 Donegal League Premier Division after an arbitration ruling.
That decision came after a long and protracted procededure first initiated when Kilmacrennan Celtic were docked points from a 3-2 win over Cranford FC on August 9, 2020 by the Donegal League’s disciplinary committee.
