Finn Harps have commended Drogheda United for dealing with a person who last night directed racist abuse at Ethan Boyle with the Ballybofey club declaring that 'racism has no place in our game'.
Harps were beaten 3-1 having gone ahead through a goal from Conor Tourish at Head in the Game Park, however defender Boyle was subjected to racist abuse, which was swiftly dealt with by officials of the County Louth club.
Play was stopped by match referee Derek Tomney, who relayed the message back to Drogheda United officials. An announcement was put out over the public address system both during the first half and at half-time warning supporters that any form of racism would not be tolerated and that anyone found guilty of doing so would be removed and banned. The individual in question was ejected from the ground at the break and will not be welcome to attend Drogheda fixtures in future.
