Bonagee United inched a little closer to the Donegal Women's League title
Bonagee United moved to within a point of securing the Donegal Women’s League title on Monday night.
The Dry Arch Park representatives overcame a youthful, yet spirited Raphoe Town 11-0 at Goose Green.
Bonagee have been on a crest of a wave this season and Monday’s win powers them ever closer to the title.
Top-scorer Bronagh Gallagher set the tone with a first-half hat-trick while Ciana Brogan scored twice from long range.
Raphoe, decimated with injuries lately, kept battling with Kyomi McCullagh stepping in for her senior debut.
Leah McMonagle went close for Raphoe while Rebecca McColgan saw a shot come off a post.
Natalie McFadden also netted a first half goal for Bonagee.
Caoimhne Heron came off the bench to net twice in the second half while Amanda Callaghan fired home a penalty after Julie McCloy was fouled.
Hannah Hopkins scored an excellent goal and Eva Harvey - just back from a long injury lay-off - recorded her first senior goal in Bonagee’s colours.
A point from next Monday’s away game at Drumbar would seal the title for Chris McNulty’s Bonagee.
Lagan Harps, who pipped Bonagee to glory on the final day of last season, face Raphoe still firmly in the shake-up.
The teams also have the Donegal Women’s Cup and Ulster Cup competitions to come.
