There was great excitement at the Salthill Cabin petting zoo on Saturday as Dorris gave birth to twin lambs
Dorris, a Dorset ewe, delivered the lambs on Saturday afternoon.
The petting zoo has become a popular amenity at the Salthill Cabin, located at Moutcharles pier.
“It was unreal,” says Aisling Chapman. “We were waiting for a week on her and everyone was messaging us.”
With the aid of local man Richard Wilson, the lambs were born on Saturday. Salthill Cabin was already a hive of activity through a cake sale in aid of Glebe National School when the big news dropped.
“We haven’t named the lambs yet, but we’ll do a wee competition now for that,” Aisling says. “Everything is good with Dorris and the lambs, thank God.”
Salthill Cabin overlooks Donegal Bay and was launched in 2018.
The petting zoo has a variety of animals including llamas, donkeys, goats, sheep, owls, hens, rabbits, snakes and peacocks.
Ahead of another busy summer season, which gets underway in May, they added emus to their flock recently.
