Errigal Bay.
Errigal Bay are set to expand their base in Meenaneary.
The company have lodged a planning permission application with Donegal County Council.
Errigal Bay are seeking permission to construct a single-storey industrial building at the site. The application says the proposed building would have a floor area of around 2,628 square metres.
The company has indicated that the function of the new development would be ‘for the production of plant-based products’.
In 2020, Errigal Bay signed a new €4m supply deal with Lidl Ireland which sees the company’s products on Lidl shelves in seven European countries.
The company started in 1962 through the vision of local priest Fr James McDwyer, who had the foresight to help launch a food processing co-operative.
The Errigal Food Processing Plant was opened in December ’62 by Taoiseach Sean Lemass.
At the outset, the company had 16 full-time staff and now employs over 200 people with products exported across the world.
Donegal County Council will rule on the application by September 26.
