Man in his late sixties drowns off south-west Donegal

Gardaí, Coast Guard and Emergency services were alerted shortly after 5pm on Thursday after an individual was observed in the water off Bruckless. He was taken to the pier and underwent medical treatment but was pronounced deceased a short time later

Man in his late sixties drowns in south-west Donegal

An Garda Siochana have confirmed a man in his late sixties has drowned at Bruckless.

"Gardaí, Coast Guard and Emergency services were alerted shortly after 5pm on Thursday after an individual was observed in the water off Bruckless," a Garda spokesperson said. "He was removed from the water and taken to the pier where he underwent medical treatment but was pronounced deceased a short time later. The body of the deceased, a local man has since been removed to the mortuary at Letterkenny Hospital where a post-mortem examination will be carried out."

Gardaí say a file will be prepared for the Coroner. Foul play is not suspected.
