Dearbhla Ní Dheoráin's storytelling brings top award at Oireachtas na Samhna

Dearbhla is a former pupil at SN Mhín Tine De Ardara, where she picked up her love of language and storytelling, and it brought her success in Killarney where she won the Corn Choláiste Rann na Feirste

Dearbhla Ní Dheoráin's storytelling brings top award at the Oireachtas na Samhna

Dearbhla Ní Dheoráin is a second-year student at St Catherine's Vocational School in Killybegs

Dearbhla Ní Dheoráin won first place in the Corn Choláiste Rann na Feirste storytelling, ages 14-16, at the Oireachtas na Samhna 2023 in Killarney.

Dearbhla, who lives in Meentullynagarn, Killybegs, is a former pupil at S.N Mhín Tine De Ardara, where she picked up her love of language and storytelling from her teachers and the guidance of principal Áine Ní Ghiolla Bhríde. Dearbhla is currently a second-year pupil at St Catherine's Vocational School. Her story in Killarney was ‘Fianna Eireann agus Fianna na Beilge’. 

Oireachtas na Samhna is the country’s oldest Irish arts festival, which showcases traditional arts in Irish cultural life, where a crowd in the region of 10,000 were in attendance.
