Waterworld Bundoran awarded NQS exceeded standard award

Waterworld Bundoran has been awarded the prestigious “exceeded standard” National Quality Standard Awards (NQS) award following an inspection of the popular Bundoran facility earlier in 2023.

The National Quality Standard Awards are the only industry-specific awards for the Leisure, Health & Fitness sector in Ireland. The awards reward excellence for facilities in the sector that meet the operational standards across 250 quality-based criteria and are endorsed by Sport Ireland. Waterworld Bundoran was one of only two facilities in the country to achieve the “exceeded” standard under the "Leisure Awards (facilities with a pool)" category.

The National Quality Standard Awards have been in operation since 2001 and are the only industry-specific award for the Leisure, Health and Fitness sector in Ireland. They are the most sought-after and respected accolades in the industry and awards across the three levels of Achieved, Exceeded & Outstanding.

Aine Temple, General Manager at Waterworld Bundoran expressed her delight at the award saying: “2023 was Waterworld’s first full season since 2019 and we are thrilled to have gained this accolade which is a testament to the hard work put in by all staff members from lifeguards to complex assistants to the management team and I’d like to convey my thanks to each and every member of the team for helping to make this happen. Plans are well underway for the 2024 season and we look forward to welcoming our guests from Easter onwards."

Chairperson of Waterworld Bundoran CLG Councillor Micheal McMahon added: “I would like to add my congratulations to Aine and the team on this great achievement. They have shown enormous commitment and dedication to ensure the high standards required are met not only during the inspection but all season long. Guests at Waterworld can always be sure of a safe environment in which to enjoy their day out.”
