Our understrength seniors were defeated in the Gaeltacht on Saturday away to Gaoth Dobhair by 2-09 to 0-06, our reserves face Naomh Muire this weekend in the Junior Gaeltacht. We have a selection of Club Gear for sale in Áislann Chill Chartha. Best of luck to Martin, Paddy and Ryan in the Sigerson Cup semi-final later this week.

Club members and volunteers are requested for a general spring clean/ tidy up of the club this Saturday 20th of Febuary starting at 10.00am to get the club ready for the 2016 season, so if you have any time to spare on Saturday call down for an hour or two, many hands make light work.

A full house for our big Monster Valentine bingo last Friday night with big cash prizes, Roses, Sweets and Meal vouchers all up for grabs. The club wish to congratulate the winners and thank McGlynns Restaurant for their generous sponsorship.

We will hold three Club Registration Nights in the coming week, the first of which is this Tuesday the 16th February at 8pm in the Clubhouse. The second will be held on Wednesday the 17th February at 7pm and the third on Saturday the 20th February at 10am. Forms are available to download from our club webpage. Forms and money can not be given to managers or coaches, all players and members must register on the given dates.

Great news this week that the Club have been selected as the Donegal representative in the GAA National Healthy Clubs initiative.

Donegal Hurling League game: Unfortunately the Hurlers opened their league campaign with a defeat away to Mayo. The lads really put in a fightback but just fell short in the end on a score line of 1.14 to 0.13. Ciaran Matthewson notched up 5 points and Lee Henderson (0.01) and Paddy Hannigan were our other representatives.

The club is holding presentations for the Under-16 Hurlers, Footballers and Camogie players who had success last season. The presentation will take place at the club house on Friday night with an 8.30pm start. We’d encourage as many parents to attend.

The club are holding a registration night on Friday the 19th of February from 7.30pm to 9.00pm.

The Bingo takes place in Jackson’s Hotel on Sunday night with an 8.30pm start for the next 2 weeks. The Snowball jackpot is €9,000 for 45 numbers or less.

The weekly lotto draw took place on Monday 15th February 2016. The numbers drawn were 21, 24, 27 and 29. There was no jackpot winner. Five players matched two numbers and they each won €20. The annual awards night takes place in the Rock Hall this Saturday, 20th February. The event will be free to attend with the action getting under way at 8pm.

All Bord na nÓg managers are asked to attend a meeting this Thursday night in Aras Aoidh Ruaidh at 8pm to settle training schedules and pitch access for the coming year.

Indoor training returns to normal this week with the under 6s in the Hall at Creevy National School followed by the under 8s. The under 10s are training in the new hall at Coláiste Cholmcille from 6pm to 7pm and that session is followed by the under 12s.

Aodh Ruadh and Bundoran are pleased to announce the return of St Joseph's senior ladies team following the amalgamation of the two clubs. The finer details are still under discussion between both committees and these will be sorted over the coming weeks.

Well done to Sarah Patton who came on for the Donegal Ladies on Sunday against Sligo league. Ladies secretary, Willie Scott, would like to remind anyone who still has to submit Garda vetting forms to get in touch with him on 0879538516).

Aodh Ruadh will be hurling in Division 2B of the Ulster Táin League this season. Their opponents will be St Eunan's and MacCumhaill's of Donegal, Naomh Colm Cille from Tyrone, Lurgan Sean Treacy's from Armagh and Monaghan outfit Castleblayney. Their fixtures commence with a home game against St Eunan's on Easter Monday, 28th March at 4pm.

Well done to Stephen Anderson, Conall Sweeney and Brian McHenry who are on the Donegal minor hurling panel for 2016. They were part of the team that beat Sligo in a challenge game on Sunday.

Our under 11 handball county champion Rachel Patton had no luck in the Ulster finals last Thursday in Belfast.

The club are asking all members for help for the Donegal Gaeltacht this May, If you are available to help out in any way as in stewarding, kitchen, lotto, shop.

The club thinking of hosting two first aid courses depending on the numbers. Day Sports First Aid Workshop, this course has been designed to: Improve the quality of first aid available in the sport and exercise environment. Increase awareness of the importance of sports first aid among leader coaches, teachers and all volunteers involved in sport and exercise. Make sport safer for everyone. Help to ensure that any injuries are dealt with appropriately when they first occur and until arrival of health care professional and the second course is Occupational Sports First Aid Courses.

These courses will be delivered by approved Health and Safety Authority Occupational First Aid Instructors in accordance with regulations on best practice. If any member/Manager is interested to contact any executive member.

The senior board monthly meeting takes place on Monday 29th February at 8.30 pm in the Abbey Hotel. The annual awards night will take place on Saturday the 20th February in Dom’s Pier 1. The club would like to congratulate Kate Keaney and the county ladies on their win against Sligo.

Well done to our Ceili Dancers who represented Donegal at the Ulster semi-final in Glenullin, on Saturday night last. They were unsuccessful against extremely strong opposition but danced superbly and done their club and county proud.

A fundraising Cookery Demonstration is being held in The Abbey Hotel on Thursday February 25th at 7 p.m. Celebrity Chef, Neven Maguire has chosen to host this event in aid of the club. Training continues in the GAA Centre for U-6’s and U-8’s every Wednesday evening and for U-10 and U-12 on Thursday evenings. Both evenings from 6pm—7pm.

Annual Presentation Dance: A very enjoyable evening was had by all in the Lagoon last Saturday night. Thanks to Joe McHugh TD who came along on the night and presented a number of awards. The senior ladies received county championship, Ulster runner-up and All Ireland Comórtas Pheil na Gaeltachta medals.

Our senior men received their League Division two winners medals. The Division two cup, as well as the Ladies County Championship, Comórtas Uile Éireann and All Ireland Under 21 Cups were also on display, and Emer Gallagher as captain of the All Ireland winning Under 21 team received an award in recognition of her captaining the team, as well as players Dara Kelly, Nicole McLaughlin and Shannon McGroddy.

Our senior ladies who played with the county last year, Roisín McCafferty, Therese McCafferty, Geraldine McLaughlin, Nicole McLaughlin, Laura Gallagher, Shannon McGroddy and Emer Gallagher were the recipients of awards to mark their representation of the club at county level.

There were also awards for Michael Boyle and Daire McDaid for their participation at county senior and under 21 level respectively.

There was great applause when Laura Gallagher was named Senior Ladies Player of the Year. The delight was however tinged with sadness as Laura has returned to the newly formed senior team with her home club Glenswilly. Geraldine McLaughlin spoke on behalf of the senior ladies, and indeed everyone in the club, and wished Laura all the very best in the future with Glenswilly, and thanked her for everything she brought to the ladies team since she joined as an U14 player … a few years ago now! We hope she will not be a stranger and might call down to her neighbours from time to time, it is always a pleasure to see Laura, on and off the field.

The Junior Ladies Player of the Year award went to Sally-Anne McFadden, while in the men’s teams, the Senior Player of the Year trophy was awarded to Kevin McDaid, while brother Paul McDaid was named Reserve Player of the Year.

An appreciation award was presented to Eddie Harkin who stepped down as Minor Board Chair after 5 years at the helm, and is now chair of the Northern Board, and we wish Eddie all the best.

Our Club senior referees, James and Benny Trearty were presented with awards in recognition of their years of refereeing service to the club, and Club Person of the Year was awarded to Margo Doherty, Club Secretary and PRO.

We would like to thank the staff in the Lagoon Bar & Restaurant for the delicious food and finally thanks to our own club member Frank McGettigan as ever for his attendance and recording of the night’s events for posterity. Thanks also to Brian McDaid who came out to photo the presentation of awards.

Scor: There will be a coach travelling to the Ulster Scor Senior final on Saturday leaving Glenswilly around lunchtime. Please let Sharon McGinty know if you are interested in travelling on the coach to support our two acts who have made history for the club in reaching the Ulster Final. Cost of coach is €10.

What a night it was for Glenswilly in Glenullin, Co Derry last weekend in the semi-final and again a huge congratulations to both Lisa O'Donnell (recitation) and the Leiriu Staiste group.

The winners of the national club draw prize from the club were Maureen McFadden of Trankeel, Stephen McDaid of Glenkeeragh and Robbie Sweeney of Bomany. They all won €100 each. Tickets have now been sent to Croke Park for the national draw which takes place on 11th March.

A Guest Tea will take place on Friday 4th March in the clubhouse. All proceeds to club funds.There are still tables available! Each table seats just eight people so it is not a huge commitment. Contact Bernie Lapsley, Pauline Carberry or Deirdre McDaid.

There will now be another chance to register with the club this Friday, February 19th between 7 and 9pm in the clubhouse.

This week's lotto numbers were 7,9,10 and 13. Michael Carr of Glenkeeragh matched 3. Next weeks jackpot is €1160.

The monthly meeting as well as the minor board meeting will take place on Monday week, February 29th. Thanks to Martin Hunter for reminding us it was a leap year!
