County to be well represented in the capital on Sunday week

Marathon runners on track for Dublin

Donegal athletes have always been well represented at the annual Dublin Marathon and it promises to be no different this year.

The 2016 SSE Airtricity Dublin Marathon has a new race day, with the event taking place on the Sunday of the October Bank Holiday weekend (instead of the Monday).

The idea of the change was to attract more entries from the UK and overseas and this year a record 19,500 athletes have entered.

Among them will be a large number of runners from Donegal - all of whom now have the hard work done in preparation for the 26.2m challenge.

Milford AC is sending 41 members to take part. Rosses AC, Tir Conaill AC, Finn Valley AC, Letterkenny AC and Inishowen AC will also be well represented while there are countless runners, not connected to any clubs, also set to compete.

See today's Donegal Demcrat for a special feature on Donegal's involvement in next weekend's big race.
