Killybegs and Donegal GAA has been plunged into sadness with news of the death of David Meehan.

Mr. Meehan from School Hill, Killybegs, died while away on a work trip.

A fisherman by profession, he worked as a skipper on a boat, servicing wind farms off the English coast.

It is understood he was found dead in his cabin. He was 51.

A keen Gaelic footballer and talented goalkeeper, he played underage football for Donegal, and for his club Killybegs, and was a member of the great Killybegs senior championship winning team of the late 1980s/early ‘90s.

He was predeceased by his father, Jackie, and is survived by his mother, Mary, brother Martin, and sister Catherine.

Ar Dheis Dé ar a anam.
