Poet Máire Dinny Wren will combine her talents with multidisciplinary artist Leanne McLaughlin will to create a wonderful event as part of Free Poetry day, Thursday, April 27.
The two artists will facilitate two interlinked workshops on Wednesday, April 26 and 27 where Máire will invite participants to respond poetically to the themes of landscape, the natural world and the Gaeilge names of local wildflowers.
Leanne will focus on the theme of letting go and will facilitate participants to inscribe these poetic responses on seed papers to create origami forms.
These forms will be buried in the earth, blossoming into a rainbow of colors during the LGBTQIA+ arts festival Bród na Gaeltachta (BnaG) in July, later this year.
The project combines poetry workshops, sculpture, the environment and community engagement.
Pobail Le Chéile CLG will provide the community garden at Garradh Cholm Cille as the site for the burial and budding of the poetry creations. The project is an initiative of Bród na Gaeltachta and will be steered by TG4 actor and BnaG founder Pól Penrose.
The project aims to celebrate the richness and beauty of the Gaeilge language and culture while encouraging a reconnection with nature and place in the Gaeltacht community.
