Great welcome for Ukrainians on Arranmore Island

Arranmore Island may be the first island to home Ukrainian refugees

Great welcome for Ukrainians on Arranmore Island

Arranmore Island

Ukrainian refugees fleeing the war in their homeland arrived on the island of Arranmore yesterday evening.
They will stay in the youth hostel on the island, owned by Jerry Early and run by Sebastian Sebo.
Sebastian explained: “I can speak Russian a bit so it helps. I would like to make Arranmore a flag destination for the families of the people from Ukraine. I will try and help as much as I can.”
He said that one of the most important aspects about the Ukrainians coming to the island is they feel comfortable there. One of the most important things is that they will be in one of the safest places in the world and that is the main thing,” he added.

People from Ukraine who are staying in the hostel in Dungloe yesterday made their way to Burtonport to warmly welcome the new group to the area.
Many Ukrainians who are living in Dungloe were shown the beauty of Arranmore by guide Sebo Sebastian at the weekend.
