St Eunan’s 0-12 Four Masters 0-6

St Eunan’s picked up the Senior B Championship title as they pulled away from Four Masters in a low-scoring affair in MacCumhaill Park on Sunday.

Both sides were wasteful, and points were scarce, but an Evan Daly two-point free helped St Eunan’s into a 0-6 to 0-3 lead at the break.

Conor Meehan got the first four scores for the Donegal Town men, but Lee McMonagle added a couple of points to make it a four-point game.

And Daly kicked another two-point free late on to secure the win.

Meehan grabbed an opening point for the Donegal Town men from a free, while Pauric Boyle responded at the other end, cutting in from the right.

Sam Harvey briefly had St Eunan’s ahead, but Meehan kicked a super two-pointer on twelve minutes, which would be their last score of the half.

Darragh Mulgrew levelled the game, and Lee McMonagle’s free that he won himself had Dualtach Molloy’s men back ahead with 15 minutes to play in the first half.

Both sides went close for goals in the next minutes, first as Alan McHugh’s effort dropped short and bounced to Patrick McGonagle, who was just a couple of yards out, but he hit his shot straight at Chris O’Donnell, who saved.

Evan Daly had an effort drop onto the crossbar, and the danger was cleared, and ‘Eunan’s threatened again when Phillip Doherty kicked a long ball into Lee McMonagle, who caught it and tried to shoot on the turn, but Ross O’Keeney did well to block.

Daly landed a two-point free in added time from off the ground to make it double scores at the break at 0-6 to 0-3.

Meehan converted a free after the break, but St Eunan’s stretched the lead out further with Conor Doherty converting, while McMonagle converted another two frees.

Odhran McMullin got a point back for Four Masters, but Evan Gallagher then saw red for a clash with McMonagle off the ball.

And while Cian Gavigan added a free, Daly finished the scoring with another two-pointer from on the 45-metre line to seal the win.
