The beneficiaries of the 2024 Bluestack Challenge are supporting people in areas of cancer care, mental health and additional needs. The walk took place on August 24, with cheques presented at a special ceremony in the Mill Park Hotel on Monday evening, October 21.

The  organising committee would like to take this opportunity to thank the local community for their  generosity and the hard work of all those who contributed to making the hill-walk such a success.

Liam McCrea, Chairperson of the Bluestack Challenge 2024 Committee said: 'It was inspiring to see the incredible community support for this event, where so many people came together for such worthy causes.

“These funds will make a significant difference to the charities and  their clients, and we are extremely grateful to everyone involved.

“On behalf of the Committee, we extend a very sincere thank you to our walkers, our generous main  sponsors, Blas and the Gateway Lodge, our many, many volunteers in the lead up to the challenge,  and on the day, the Bluestack Centre, and of course a special thank you to our guides, the Bluestack Ramblers, without whom the walk wouldn't be possible. And then there's the army, Civil Defence and Mountain Rescue who also supported the event.

“It's a huge voluntary event, garnering generous local support, enthusiastic participants, with a great  sense of community and goodwill.

“We had a very hard-working committee where the planning  started back last January and we look forward to welcoming everyone once again in 2026!”
