The 13-year-old Donegal boy who in the New Year will be appearing in a film, has written a Christmas song.
Ethan Barron from Manorcunningham's song 'Ring out the Bells' is about focusing on the true meaning of Christmas and praising out our savior's birth, which has been released on his YouTube channel.
Aside from this, Ethan has a minor role in a movie centered on the penal times in Ireland, called 'Faith of our Fathers' which has been produced by global television network EWTN. The film if due to be broadcast in 2023 on Sky, Virgin Media, Amazon Prime, Netflix and 11 other satellites around the world.
It tells the story of a Catholic priest hiding in fear of the austere laws of the time, and the whole community’s efforts to shelter him as he ministers through the hedge schools and Mass Rock to strengthen the faith of the people.
The Penal Laws were a series of laws that sought to uphold the establishment of the Church of England against Catholicism and Protestant nonconformists by imposing various forfeitures, civil penalties, and civil disabilities upon these dissenters. Antoin Doherty from Gaoth Dobhair is playing one of the lead roles in the production shot at Dromantine Retreat and Conference Centre outside Newry, Co Down.
