Friday, with it being December 1, brought in the last month of the year and for anyone who took part in ‘Movember’ it marked a chance to get rid of the beard they’d built up for charity.
For Ballintra’s Norman Clarke, though, his had been growing for a lot longer than the month of November, for 25 years. Off it went, and, whilst in the spirit of things, he also got his head shaved. He was part of 29 local men who took part in Movember for charity.
The big shave took place on Friday night at the Bay Bush Bar in Ballintra, with all proceeds for SHOUT (Sligo Hospital Oncology Unit Trust).
“A big thank you to all involved in the fundraiser, the participants, the Barbers Oussama and Sadam from Legacy Barbers, Ballyshannon who gave their services free of charge,” participants told DonegalLive.
“The lads would like to thank everyone who sponsored them and who donated to the fundraiser. Thanks also to the organisers Stephen Anderson and Dermott McGrane who came up with the idea. Thank you to all in the Bay Bush Bar for hosting the event and to Eamonn Murphy, who was MC. It was a great night.”
