Cór Taobh a’ Leithid from Gweedore will be in the shows first episode

A Donegal choir group will feature on TG4’s series searching for Ireland’s best choir.

Cór Taobh a’ Leithid from Gweedore will feature on Curfá’s first episode, airing on Sunday, October 25 at 8 pm.

Doimnic Mac Giolla Bhríde founded Cór Thaobh a' Leithid, a 3-4 part group of musicians who sing sean-nós and traditional Irish songs. The choir has been going for over 25 years, with many members coming and going throughout that time.

The choir has performed at the Earagail Arts Festival in Letterkenny, Donegal, and at the National Concert Hall as part of Irish folk musician and producer Dónal Lunny’s St. Patrick's Festival Concert in Dublin.

Curfá is produced by Tyrone Productions and presented by Doireann Ní Ghlacáin. Over 8 weeks, we narrow 12 amazing choirs down to just 3 who will perform in the grand finale with some very special guest performers!

Hive Cancer Support Choir and Quire Choir from Belfast will also be featuring in the first episode.

Colm Ó Foghlú returns to the judge’s chair this season. Colm is an award-winning composer, director, writer and producer, and former Musical Director of Riverdance. He has created acclaimed musical productions, films and television programmes, including work for TG4 and RTÉ.

Bernie Pháid Ní Mhuircheartaigh is stepping into the judges' panel for the first time on the show. Bernie is a bilingual singer and musician from the Dingle Peninsula, deeply rooted in Irish tradition. Her music blends traditional Irish songs with Appalachian influences, and she has collaborated with renowned artists including Mary Black, Luka Bloom and Liam Ó Maonlaí.

Séamus Ó Flatharta, another addition to the judges panel, is an accomplished singer, dancer and multi-instrumentalist from Connemara. A 23-time All-Ireland title winner, he has performed internationally with leading artists and ensembles, including Riverdance and the RTÉ Concert Orchestra.

Curfá will be available to watch on TG4 and globally on TG4’s website.
