Death notices for Donegal on Thursday evening

The following deaths have taken place:

- Patrick John Laverty, Galway and Stranorlar

- Eileen Donnelly, Muff and Louth

- Neil McDaid, Kilmacrennan and England

- Una (Agnes) Smyth, Derry and Buncrana

Ellen Green, Scotland and Glenvar

Patrick John Laverty, Galway and Stranorlar

The death has taken place of Patrick John Laverty, Clooniffe, Moycullen, Galway and formerly of Stranorlar. He passed away peacefully at his home with his loving family by his side. 

He is sadly and deeply mourned and by his wife Mary (Mai) and will be forever missed by his loving daughters Helen and Ann-Marie. He was the cherished brother of Maureen and adored grandfather of Daniel, Aislinn and Ciarán. Pat will be fondly remembered by the extended Laverty and Curran family, neighbours and many friends in both Donegal and Galway.

Pat's remains will repose at the O'Flaherty Funeral Parlour, Munster Avenue, Galway, H91 V1K8 on Sunday from 4pm to 6pm. 

Requiem Mass on Monday at 11am in St Mary's Church, Claddagh on arrival at 11am. Following Mass he will be laid to rest in Forthill cemetery, Lough Atalia Road.

Eileen Donnelly, Muff and Louth

The death has taken place of Eileen Donnelly, née Woods, of Warrenview Manor, Muff, formerly of Oakland Park, Dundalk, County Louth. Eileen passed away peacefully in Carndonagh Community Hospital.

She is predeceased by her loving husband Peter, daughter Anne, grandson Ronan, and son-in-law David. She will be sadly missed by her daughters Cecilia, Marie and Ursula, son-in-law Anthony and fondly loved by her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, neighbours and friends.

Eileen’s remains will be removed from Eamonn McLaughlin’s Funeral Home, Carndonagh, F93 E4FN on Thursday at 7.45pm to Warrenview Manor, Muff F93 C938, reposing 11am to 10pm on Friday and Saturday.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated at the Sacred Heart Church, Muff, F93 TF24 on Sunday at 11.30am with burial afterwards in Brid-a-Crin Cemetery, Dundalk, A91 W308.

Neil McDaid, Kilmacrennan and England

The death has taken place of Neil McDaid, Nottingham, England and formerly of Skerry, Kilmacrennan.

Deeply regretted by his brothers James and Hugh, sisters Kathleen and Susan, nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Predeceased by his parents Neil and Mary, brother Patrick and sisters Bridget, Sarah and Mary Ellen.

His remains are reposing at the residence of his brother Hugh Mc Daid, Skerry, Kilmacrennan, F92 YD32 on from 11am.

Funeral Mass on Sunday at 11am in St Columba’s Church, Kilmacrennan. Burial will take place afterwards in the adjoining cemetery. Mass can be viewed on Church Services TV St Columba’s Church Kilmacrennan. 

Una (Agnes) Smyth, Derry and Buncrana

The death has occurred of Una (Agnes) Smyth, née McLaughlin, Troy Park, Derry and formerly Maginn Avenue, Buncrana. She passed away peacefully in the exceptional care of staff in Owen Mor Care Centre.

Predeceased by her loving husband Noel; much-loved mother of Roisín, Shaun and Gavin; sadly missed by her son-in-law Enda, daughters-in-law Maureen and Margaret and her adored grandchildren Sarah, Eimear, Bryan and Noel.

Una's remains are reposing at Murphy's Funeral Home, Tooban, Burnfoot F93PW96, on Thursday from 6pm to 9pm each evening, where you are all welcome to pay your respects.

Removal from there on Friday morning at 10.15am going to St Mary's Church, Cockhill for Requiem Mass at 11am followed by interment in the adjoining graveyard. Requiem mass can be viewed on www.churchservices.tv/cockhill

Ellen Green, Scotland and Glenvar

The death has occurred of Ellen Green, née Doherty, formerly of Ballinacraig, Glenvar, and Cathkin, Rutherglen, Scotland. She passed away peacefully at 3 Bridges Care Home, Glasgow on Monday, September 8, in her 103rd year. 

Beloved wife to the late Patrick and predeceased by her son Denis and daughter Frances, she is greatly missed by her loving family - daughters Una (Gallagher) and Sheila (Loughlin), sons John, Joe, Tony, sons and daughters-in-law and partners; adored grandchildren Katie, Sarah, Liam, Megan, David, Fiona, Colette, Martin, Kevin and Emma, great grandchildren Isla, Orla, Iona, Margot and Matthew; nieces, nephews, extended family, neighbours and friends.

Ellen’s remains will be received into St Anthony’s RC Church Mar Gardens, Rutherglen, Glasgow G73 5JE, on Thursday at 6.30pm.

Her Funeral Mass will take place on Friday at 9.30am, and thereafter to the Linn Cemetery for 11am. Ellen’s Funeral Mass can be viewed on the St Anthony and St Mark’s Rutherglen YouTube Channel.
