Cllrs have joined up thinking on walking trails and greenways

Rural trains and walking tracks should link into bigger greenway projects which would have enhanced benefits for local communities, a recent meeting of the Glenties Municipal District (GMD) has heard.

   

Members commended the ongoing work at Muckish Railway and expressed appreciation for the organisation of a site visit. Councillor Micheal Mac Giolla Easbuig requested a renewed focus on the Burtonport section of the greenway.

Councillor Anthony Molloy requested an update on the proposed link walkway from Laconnell to the mountain.

The Cathaoirleach of the GMD, Councillor Marie Therese Gallagher requested that the Community Development Division look to develop linkages from rural trails to the bigger greenway project to enhance and create benefits for local communities.

The Community Development Staff Officer advised the Committee that their technical team have been requested to attend and provide updates to the MD.
