Aurivo has sought planning permission for a new lab at its site in Killygordon.

Aurivo Co-Operative Society Ltd has lodged documents with Donegal County Council this week.

The proposed development would include the demolition of the existing lab building.

There are plans for the installation of a replacement detached prefabricated single storey lab accommodation unit.

Aurivo also plan to install a detached prefabricated single storey office accommodation unit.

The documents say that these are 'all for use ancillary to the dairy facility'.

Around 120 people are employed at the Killygordon facility, which processes milk from farms produced in 14 counties.

The facility in Killygordon produces milk used to make dairy products bearing the Connacht Gold, Donegal Creameries and Organic for Us brand.

Aurivo Co-operative Society Limited, then known as Connacht Gold, in 2011, took over the Donegal Creameries dairy processing operations in 2012.

In 2019, the company announced a €6m investment intended to double production and slash fossil fuel use.

Donegal County Council say a decision on the planning permission is due to be made by February 16, 2023.
