St Eunan’s continued their good run in Division One with a six-point win over Bundoran in O’Donnell Park on Sunday.

St Eunan's 2-8

Bundoran 1-5

Eoin McGeehin and his brother Ronan made it a family affair when it came to scoring the two goals for the Letterkenny side.

Eoin McGeehin, who ended the game top scorer with a goal and three points, palmed home the first 11 minutes into the game.

The flame-haired full-forward got on the end of a sweeping move involving his brother Ronan Oran Winston to palm to the Bundoran net from close range..

In a carbon copy of the first goal, Ronan McGeehin palmed past a helpless Conor Carthy for goal number two twelve minutes into the second period.

The second goal opened up a five point lead for St Eunan’s for the first time and finally broke what was a competitive Bundoran’s resolve.

Bundoran, with Timmy Govorov on the forty and Jonathan Boyle in the middle of the field and Adam Gallagher in the half-back line busy. gave as good as they got in the first half.

They responded to St Eunan’s first goal with four unanswered points, the lead 0-5 to 1-0 after 25 minutes. Brian Henry, Govorov, Adam McGloin and Gallagher scored the points for the Seasiders.

St Eunan’s, thanks to the darting runs forward of Peter Devin and Conor Parke and Ciaran Moore, enjoyed a good deal of possession in the opening half hour, but with a combination of a tenacious defence and playing into a stiff breeze, it took them a while to find the range.

Thanks to a strong finish to the half, with points from dual player Cormac Finn, Eoin McGeehin and Conor O’Donnell (jun), St Eunan’s led 1-3 to 0-5 at half-time.

With the wind in their back in the second period St Eunan’s more or less dominated the encounter and a goal and five points was a scant enough return for the second 30 minutes.

The McGeehin brothers and Conor O’Donnell (jun) three points before O’Donnell received his marching orders. He had ten minutes in the sin bin in the first half and when he committed a yellow card offence in the early minutes of the final quarter he was duly shown a yellow followed by red card by referee Sean McDaid.

Shortly after Adam Gallagher struck for Bundoran’s goal after a clever ball from Barry McGowan, reducing the margin to five points with just over five minutes remaining.

Young Noel O’Donnell - who was playing reserve football last season - stepped up with two long points in the space of a minute to end any notion of a Bundoran comeback.
