A woman who was critically injured in last night’s fatal collision in Bundoran is currently being transferred from Sligo University Hospital to Beaumont Hospital in Dublin.

The single vehicle fatal road traffic collision occurred at Eastend, Bundoran, at 3.25a.m. this morning, Sunday 19th August, 2018.

One man and one woman were fatally injured when the car they were passengers in collided with a wall. Their bodies were removed to the morgue in Sligo University Hospital.

The woman has been named locally as Shiva Devine, originally from Donegal Town, a mother in her early 20s. The man who died has been named as Conall McAleer, originally from Boa Island, had been living in Pettigo. He was a student at South West College in Enniskillen.

Garda forensic collision investigators officers spent most of the day at scene. The road has since been reopened to traffic.

Since then people, among them relatives of those who died or were injured, have visited the scene. Cards and flowers have been placed at the scene paying tribute to the deceased.

Parish Priest, Canon Ramon Munster said those who died would be remembered in prayers and prayers for the recovery of those injured would also be offered by congregations at local masses.

Former town councillor Frankie O’Gorman told RTÉ that when the former O’Gorman Arms was demolished it was his and the expectation of many that the dangerous bend on the road where the accident occurred would be straightened, but this had not happened.

The local coroner has been notified and post-mortems will be carried out on the two deceased at the mortuary in Sligo University Hospital tomorrow.

An incident room has been established at Ballyshannon Garda Station and investigating Gardaí are liaising with the PSNI as part of their enquiries.
