A south Donegal community group has highlighted the level of littering involving glass bottles close to one of the county’s best-known beaches.
The Friends of Rossnowlagh group has highlighted the potential dangers of glass bottles found along the road verges near Rossnowlagh Beach.
Posting a photograph of a “small sample” of what is regularly found, the group said: “An impulse moment - throwing a bottle out of a car window.
“That single bottle can cut a child’s knee or hands if they fall, cut the paws or mouths of dogs and wildlife, or puncture car tyres - possibly your own, later.

“Actions have consequences. A lot of harm can be caused – and a lot of harm can be prevented. This isn’t harmless, and it isn’t rare.
“Please take your glass bottles home, or use the bottle banks in the main car park. And if you’re driving, please don’t allow your passengers to throw glass bottles out of your car.
“We have something special here. Let’s look after it – and each other.”
